Bio
I am convinced that we all need more fun in our lives, especially when we come to a strategy-roadblock in our work. Since having my son nearly 5 years ago, I recognize how stepping away from a project and having some good ole kid-fun can help to regain perspective. I also realize that it doesn't have to feel like you're pulling your hair out. Problem solving, capacity building, and fund development can be a fun and inspiring process.

I am a mother, organic farmer, and non-profit leader. I care deeply about the planet and how we impact it. I am a graduate of MSU's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and I co-managed a successful 14 acre certified organic CSA farm (Undertoe Farm) from 2013-2022 with my husband, Adam Brown. I am a trained fund development professional and a savvy strategist. I have worked in the most remote rainforests on Maui and snow-tracked mountain lions through the Bow Valley of Banff National Park. I love a challenge, and I welcome the problem solving process. Over 20 years, I've served in non-profit leadership roles and as an entrepreneur.

I am personally interested in how Self-leadership (Dr. Richard Schwartz, founder Internal Family Systems) can be applied to organizational leadership in order to most effectively and compassionately lead others.

A favorite quote:
"Our parts can sometimes be disruptive or harmful, but once they're unburdened, they return to their essential goodness. When we learn to love all our parts, we can learn to love all people — and that will contribute to healing the world..."

Services
I specialize in helping small conservation, environmental learning, and agricultural non-profits reach their full potential. I love to listen, and I genuinely thrive on hearing your perspective first. Providing a sounding board and learning from you is important to me. Once I gain the full picture, we jump in together to tackle your project, challenges, or issue. I am a collaborator. I love to build things. I enjoy leading a charge. I want to help you strategize, so you can achieve awesome things and do meaningful work. Through my consulting services, I can, for example, direct your philanthropic and organizational strategies. I specialize in helping non-profit organizations assess their potential, develop best practices for staff, board, and volunteer management, and navigate tough transitions. I can also help you plan for future growth, build capacity, write grants, strategize for capital and special project campaigns, create fund development plans, and assess internal needs.
